The Roads Fund Board is celebrating 10 years since it was established. To commemorate the anniversary, it has organised an International Conference to be held at the Naura Springs Hotel in Arusha on the 26th and 27th August 2010.

The Ministry of Infrastructure Development in collaboration with African Community Access Programme (AFCAP), Roads Fund Board, Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) and the Prime Minister’s Office Regional Administration and Local Government organised a successful Workshop on Low Volume Sealed Roads (LVSR) held from 28th to 30th April 2009 in Arusha at the Naura Springs Hotel and attended by 65 participants from the private and public sectors within Tanzania.

15 February 2008

The Ministry of Infrastructure Development in collaboration with the Roads Fund Board organised a "CONSULTATIVE MEETING ON STRATEGIES TO IMPROVE ABSORPTION CAPACITY OF ROAD FUNDS" that was held on 4th July 2007 at the White Sands Hotel in Dar es Salaam. The meeting had been called on because the Roads Fund Budget has increased more than 2 times from Tshs. 85.693 billion in FY 2006/2007 to Tshs. 218.474 billion in FY 2007/2008. At the meeting a number of recommendations were made to improve absorption of funds and a Steering Committee was formed to oversee its implementation. Another meeting is to be held later this year to review progress.

The Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) in collaboration with The World Bank (WB), The German Development Cooperation (GTZ), The International Road Federation (IRF), The Association of Southern Africa National Roads Agencies (ASANRA), and The African Road Maintenance Funds Association (ARMFA) are organizing the Regional Seminar and Workshop on Contracting Performance-Based Management and Maintenance Contracts. The Seminar will be conducted back to back with a Workshop on Performance-Based Management and Maintenance Contracts. The three day Seminar will be held from 25th – 27th February 2008 and the two-day Workshop will be held from 28th – 29th February 2008.

14 June 2007

The fuel levy has been increased from Tshs. 100 per litre of petrol and diesel to Tshs. 200. This increase is a result of the Government accepting recommendations from the Roads Fund Board to have Roads Fund revenue increased to improve on maintenance of the road network. This increase of the fuel levy was announced by the Minister for Finance Hon. Mrs. Zakia Meghji when delivering her Ministry's budget speech on 14th June 2007 in Dodoma.

3 May 2007

The International Seminar on Road Financing and Investment was successfully held between 16th and 20th April 2007 at Ngurdoto Mountain Lodge in Arusha Tanzania. There were 196 delegates from 39 countries. A report on the Seminar is being compiled and when finalised will be sent to all delegates who attended the Seminar.

25 February 2007

A delegation of 14 people from the Roads Fund Board and Zanzibar Roads Funds Boards visited Kenya on a study tour from 15th to 22nd February 2007. The delegation was headed by the Roads Fund Board chairman Mr. Philip A. Magani. The team returned back safely to Tanzania. We thank Kenya Roads Board for hosting the team.
